Julia Child "The Chicken Sisters"

Julia Child awakened America to the pleasures of 'good' ooking with her cookbook ‘Mastering the Art of French Cooking’ and her television show ‘The French Chef’. It was one of the first cooking shows on television. The French Chef introduced French cooking to the United States at a time when it was considered expensive restaurant fare, not suitable for home cooking.

"Today we have: Miss Broiler, Miss Fryer, Miss Roaster, Miss Caponette, Miss Skewer and Old Madam"

Mastering the Art of French Cooking
Before buying Julia Child's ‘Mastering the Art of French Cooking’, read why you will never cook from it. If you don’t agree, visit the National Museum of American History *. They invite you to join the celebration of Julia Child’s life, work, and contributions to American culinary history.

* When Julia Child moved back to her home state of California in 2001, she donated the kitchen from her Cambridge home to this Museum. A replica of this kitchen plays a starring role in “Julie & Julia”.
