Black comedy about a wealthy couple (Michael Douglas & Kathleen Turner) who try everything to get each other to leave the house in a vicious divorce battle. Scene: she serves him a paté which she implies was made from his dog (although the dog is alive and well outside).
Dog Meat
Human consumption of dog meat has been recorded in many parts of the world, including China, ancient Mexico, and ancient Rome. The eating of dog meat in China, has long been thought to have medicinal properties, and is especially popular in winter months, as it is believed to generate heat and promote bodily warmt. The Chinese government is considering banning dog and cat meat. But it's quite controversial: many people believe that eating domesticated animals is cruel and barbaric, but it's a longstanding Chinese culinary tradition and banning it would be tantamount to giving in to foreign prejudices. French eat horses which Americans find nasty, American eat cows which goes against Indian believes and European eat rabbit (maybe not their own pets)... During the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, the Chinese government restricted the sale of these meats in local restaurants to avoid bad publicity.
